This week’s New Music Discoveries span alt-pop, indie rock, acoustic introspection, and genre-blurring debut albums, each track carrying both emotional honesty and sonic ambition. From ULA’s punchy, empowered “Danger” to Saachi’s deeply personal and richly produced “Wishbone”, these artists confront love, loss, and self-discovery with clarity and style. Verticulo’s warm, reflective “See You Around”, Nik & Blu’s hauntingly delicate “Things to Do”, and Stereo Silence’s playful, riff-driven “Gimme More” round out a lineup that balances introspection with infectious energy. Volume 016 reminds us that new music can hit both the heart and the mind.

"Danger" by ULA

After turning heads with “So Kind” and “In My Eyes”, Ula is back with “Danger”, a fierce and stripped-back track powered by gritty guitars and a pulsing analogue bassline. It’s sharp, confident, and playfully dark — a tongue-in-cheek jab at ego and manipulation that still manages to feel empowering. What makes “Danger” stand out is its mix of edge and restraint; every note feels intentional, landing with both bite and style. A striking step forward as Ula heads toward her debut EP.

"Gimme More" by Stereo Silence

Camberley indie rock band Stereo Silence return with “Gimme More”, a long-awaited single that blends youthful restlessness with infectious energy. Written by frontman Sam at just 17, the track evolved over nearly a decade into a polished, riff-driven anthem about searching for something beyond the ordinary. With a driving bassline, playful guitar hooks, and a danceable momentum, "Gimme More" captures both nostalgia and forward-looking ambition, cementing Stereo Silence as one of Surrey’s most exciting new acts.

"Wishbone" by Saachi

Mumbai-based alt-pop and soul artist Saachi releases her debut album "Wishbone", a deeply personal and genre-blending record that celebrates hope, resilience, and self-discovery. Drawing on influences from blues, funk, 2000s nostalgia, and modern soul, the album explores the tension between childhood optimism and adult realities, turning wishing and dreaming into acts of strength and courage.

We love "Wishbone" for its emotional honesty and musical richness—each track balances introspection with infectious grooves, blending soulful vocals with clever production. Songs like “E.L.T” and “Au Naturale” showcase Saachi’s knack for crafting hooks that stick while delivering meaningful, relatable lyrics that linger with you.

A trained vocalist in both Western and Hindustani styles and a self-taught producer, Saachi honed her craft at Berklee College of Music and has shared stages with Grammy-winning and acclaimed acts, bringing a commanding presence to every performance. "Wishbone" reflects her journey as an artist and producer, offering a dynamic, nostalgic, and deeply human debut.

"See You Around" by Verticoli

Tasmanian alt-rock trio Verticoli return with “See You Around”, a warm and reflective new single that looks back on past relationships with gratitude rather than regret. The track glows with melodic ease and emotional depth. It’s the first taste of their upcoming album "Silverlinings", due out November 6 — a promising new chapter from a band known for their heartfelt songwriting and dynamic live energy.

"Things to Do" by Nik & Blu

Milan-based duo Nik & Blu return with “Things to Do”, a haunting acoustic reflection on love, distance, and quiet resignation. Built on delicate shifts between restraint and release, it captures the ache of watching someone drift away under life’s weight. The refrain “Don’t you have your things to do?” lingers like a mantra of loss. We love this track for its poetic depth, emotional honesty, and the way it turns everyday heartbreak into something mythic and timeless.
