On December 12th 2025 London based musician Michael Blackwell released his fourth single this year called ‘Any Day It Isn’t Right’. He is known for his wide range of talent: as a singer, producer and songwriter with a penchant to captivating guitar sounds mixed in indie rock and a variety of other sounds, that highlight his vocal and musical abilities.

Michael Blackwell is no stranger to being in front of an audience, having shared stages with artists like Lewis Capaldi, Amber Run, Louis Tomlinson and Megan McKenna. Having seen him as a support act for Isaac Anderson this year, he has a humorous, captivating stage presence that, paired with his vocal talent, makes for an amazing concert experience.

With the intro “Honey it’s not over, I'm just trying to understand. You moved home again last summer, while we were busy making plans” Michael Blackwell paints a picture that embodies the longing for something that feels like it slipped out of one's grasp. The endless question marks and uncertainty of a story that’s not done yet and might never have the closure it deserves. Perfectly underlined by guitar sounds that feel like drifting in and out of the song on wavering steps.

This song is a collaboration with Matt Alejarra-Dinnadge on bass and James Smithells on background vocals. No stranger to Michael Blackwell’s music and creative process is Adam Forster, who worked on drums and as producer for all his singles this year. Michael Blackwell himself does guitar, vocals and synthesizer on his track, balancing his talent in multiple areas without making any cuts in the integrity and power of this song.

With the almost soft sound of the lyrics “Under different sheets we’re lying and you’ve already made your bed. Somewhere at the end of this line I see the tracks of both our tears” Michael Blackwell keeps the listener engaged before going into a more powerful part of the song. A part that is on the right side of heavy guitar sounds and drums, building up a momentum and reflecting the inner turmoil that follows the protagonist and listener throughout this journey. With a sudden stop after this built up, the song ends exactly at the right spot. Just like the protagonist was confronted with a sudden stop in his relationship, the listener was also taken along this emotionally uncertain trip, with a vague ending.
