On October 28, 2025, Icelandic indie-folk favorites Of Monsters and Men were set to headline History in Toronto, with a beautiful opening set from fellow Icelander Arny Margret, whose warm, acoustic sound perfectly set the tone for the night.

But things took an unexpected turn when it came time for Of Monsters and Men’s set—lead singer Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir had completely lost her voice, forcing the band to postpone the full show. Still, the remaining members came out to break the news themselves and even performed a few songs for the patient crowd.

The audience responded with grace and good humor. One fan in the front lightened the mood, joking, “It’s alright, I’ll take Nanna’s place tonight,” earning laughter from the band. The night ended in a touching moment when the crowd joined in to sing Nanna’s parts on “Little Talks,” turning disappointment into connection. Photographer Lacey Davey captured the emotion, honesty, and togetherness of the evening—explore the full gallery below.
