So here's the thing: back in 2014, Charlotte OC was part of my regular rotation — and then, like so many artists over the years, she just kind of slipped out of sight while my taste wandered somewhere else. I never caught her live back then. Now fast forward to 2025, I stumble into her set at SXSW London, and suddenly I was - and still am - captivated. Her songs were the ones sticking with me long after the festival ended.

Last night she played at Maschinenhaus — tucked away in the very corner of Berlin where I grew up — which made the whole experience feel a little extra special. I got to meet her briefly before the show, and she was every bit as lovely as you’d hope. To set the mood perfectly, Berlin was treated to an incredible opener: Lavine, who built an atmosphere that matched the night flawlessly.

When Charlotte OC stepped onstage, she immediately took control — not in a loud or flashy way, just that natural “this is my space now” kind of confidence. She fully owns her performance, right down to the floor she’s walking on.

From the first note my only thought was "God, this is SO beautiful.", and I kept bouncing between wanting to close my eyes and fully feel every moment… and wanting to record every second so I’d never forget. In the end I went for the latter and found myself half the concert looking through the viewfinder hoping to capture the magic and intimacy of the night (while still feeling all the feels!).

The setlist blended what we came for — the smoldering, soulful cuts of her past — alongside brand-new tracks she’s been testing out. And honestly? They already sound like future favorites!

Between the songs, she shared stories about her life, her family, her songwriting, and her deep love for Berlin; and casually dropped that her mum was in the audience which made the whole night feel even more personal. Like you were getting to know her in real time — not just as an artist, but as a person.

There were moments so quiet that even breathing felt like it might break the spell… followed seconds later by cheers so loud they shook the room. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a crowd that could be that silent (in the best way) and that loud (also in the best way). Everyone was locked in, together.

And her voice? It still does that thing — the arrow-to-the-heart, knock-the-wind-out-of-you thing. Rich, aching, sometimes barely-there, sometimes a burst of fire. It sent shivers up my spine more times than I could count.

When the encore demand became impossible to ignore, Charlotte returned for “Satellite”. Just her with a microphone. No band, no distractions. The most emotional ending to an already unforgettable night.

Charlotte OC proved she’s back — and somehow better than ever. Her voice is pure magic, and this show? Absolutely the best of my year! If you get the chance to see her live… don’t even think about it. Just go.
