MUST-SEES | New Bloom Festival Brisbane 2025

Keeping the golden age of DIY basement shows alive, New Bloom Festival returns for another year with an insanely stacked lineup. After the success of the inaugural 2024 tour, including a sold out Melbourne show, they are fired up and ready to take on Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne over the March 8-10th long weekend. 


The curated festival will celebrate all things alt rock, grunge, punk, emo and post-hardcore, making this the perfect opportunity for fans to mosh their hearts away. 


Brisbane crowds will be lucky to kick off the first show at Fortitude Music Hall on March 8th. The heart of Fortitude Valley is set to be packed to the brim with emos and punks alike. 


With so much to take in, we’ve put together a list of the acts big & small that you absolutely cannot miss catching! 


Basement 

Returning rock icons, Basement, rose to fame through the UK’s underground hardcore scene. Their memorable lyrics and complex themes have amassed in over two million monthly Spotify listeners that clearly did not move on from streaming during their recent hiatus. 



Balance and Composure 

Pennsylvanian hypno-rock group, Balance and Composure, are also joining this year's lineup. Their fourth studio album ‘With You In Spirit’ is an atmospheric collection of post-punk rock, and was produced by industry legend and Grammy-nominated producer Will Yip. 



Drain 

Hardcore punk fans absolutely cannot miss catching Santa Cruz band, Drain, their ballistic energy exudes on stage, causing chaos within the mosh pit. Frontman Sammy Ciarmitaro describes their sets as “Five people deep singing and stage diving, then kids going berserk behind that”. 



Sweet Pill 

All the way from Philadelphia, Sweet Pill embraces their emo roots, effortlessly blending together themes of both hardcore and pop. Their eruptive sound and stage presence is an experience you cannot miss. 



Glitterer 

Originally a solo project fronted by Ned Russin from Title Fight, the now 4 piece band Glitterer from Washington D.C. serves up classic emo angst. Their fuzzy-grunge pop style encapsulates the new wave style of post-hardcore sound. 



Colourblind 

Adelaide’s alt rock and emo sensation, Colourblind, have received widespread acclaim from critics and fans following the release of their debut EP ‘Move Like You’. Their dedication to authenticity has given them a well-deserved presence in the Australian music scene. 



Wifecult 

‘Sonic Tsunami’, Wifecult, are Brisbane locals blessing stages with their striking harmonies and hard hitting bass. With the release of their EP ‘Kindness In Clarity’, they have earned their place on some high-rotation playlists, and even tours with big name bands LA Dispute (USA) and Thrice (USA). 



Masochist 

Hailing from the Northern Rivers, Masochist’s tracks tackle huge social messages of sexual assault, mental health, racism and misogyny within the music industry. The hardcore punk group aims to bring a raw perspective to topics that aren’t discussed enough.
