Brain Fuzz Belly Fest 2025 was an absolute ripper of a day! Brought together by the wonderful Ally, aka The Messy Fuzz, Red Belly Records, and New Brain Communications, each act carved out their own distinctive sound on stage, leaving lasting memories with those lucky enough to be a part of it.
Amidst the chaos of the town’s Billycart Derby Day, festival-goers made their way to Bangalow’s A&I Society Hall for an immersive day ahead. The hall was beautifully decorated with paintings from local artists, as well as stalls stocked with merch, vinyls, and zines. The beloved Spangled Drongo worked hard supplying the crowds with ice-cold drinks to compliment the lively event.
What impressed me most during the gig was the sense of comradery shared among the bands, praising each other after sets, and hyping up the acts with less experience performing. The positive energy flowed from the bands and onto the audience, creating such an uplifting atmosphere.
Brave Daisy
Kicking things off, Brave Daisy set the tone for the special day ahead. Their fresh, melodic style
created an environment that immediately drew the crowd into the festival's embrace.
Happy F*cking Family
Pure passion was unleashed during Happy Family’s performance. These guys acted with such
raw intensity that you could not stop to look away from their set.
Flight to Dubai
The Sydney based garage-punk icons took to the stage with such reckless spirit and precision. Lead-vocalist, Atlas Abell, commanded the room with his magnetic and ferocious voice that howled through the hall.
Champion Ruby
For their second ever live performance, these guys followed with quite the show. Absolutely slinging tunes and bringing every ounce of energy and enthusiasm to the stage.
Liminal
Experimental, ethereal, and engaging. The Lismore psych-rock 4 piece curated a setlist full of tracks that were truly captivating, alluring the audience into an insanely memorable experience.
Return to Nagoya
All the way from Santa Cruz California, RTN got the crowd pumping with their heavy, hypnotic riffs. Beyond their commanding stage-presence, they’re also some of the chillest dudes you’ll ever meet!
Fungas
This is when things started to get funky - blending together influences of new wave, garage, psychedelia, and punk, Fungas bewitched the audience with their unique use of samplers & synths.
Couch Wizard
After a taking listeners on quite the psychedelic adventure, Happy F*cking Family, RTN and Miss Fuzz all jumped on stage to send off the explosive night. All the while frontman, Oliver Firth, chaotically crowd surfed through the audience below.
