Leigh Groenemeyer

Born and raised in the “Mother City” of South Africa, Leigh Groenemeyer was trained as a textile designer and somewhere along her journey she picked up a camera, like she once did as a child, and never let it go.

In 2016, Leigh began photographing live concerts and festivals for one of South Africa’s leading music platforms. The night clubs, arenas, and stadiums became her photographic classroom and she soon became a regular face in the pit, which over time has opened many doors to becoming a budding freelance photographer.
Her passion for photography is evident in the work that she produces, and capturing ones inner being in their natural environment is her mission and drive.

I have 11 years experience in photography with the last year working as a full time freelance creative. I primarily work within Music and Fashion, most notably working with Dr. Martens during the 2022 festival season.

I'm a self taught visual artist based between London and Berlin. Honing my craft as a music photographer and filmmaker focusing on the international DIY scenes in the UK, Europe and the USA for the past decade, as well as the psychedelic resurgence for my debut feature documentary Trip, which screened at several film festivals in 2023. My work is not limited to documenting live music, I also have a background in fashion having worked as a model for five years from the age of 16, as an assistant designer and designed and co-owned a hat brand.
I've also worked in TV, film and travel often for family and work.
My subjects are from a broad demographic and I'm never afraid to take on new and challenging projects and commissions.
