I was 8 years when I started photography. Well, oficially when I was 8, since that was when I got my first camera for my birthday. I got it from my dad, who has also teached me the basics of photography. It might have even been a selfish move, that he gave me a camera: he got to spend some time shooting with his own camera again, that I always tried to get my hands on before.

When I was a bit older, my dad took me to motorraces on the Dutch TT circuit in Assen from time to time. From 12 and onwards, I'm mostly seen at festivals and concerts. Since music is a big hobby of mine, it combines both my passions, which is awesome. I hope to convey that passion in my photo series.

When I reached the age of 14, I got nominated by the British music magazine NME for a NME Music Photography Award with the photo that I titled "Scream". For the 2 upcoming years I got nominated again and in 2013 I received a honorable mention. In that same year I also got second place in the business competition of the Silver Camera Hengelo, organized by the Mixed Lions Club, where I represented Poppodium Metropool. 2014 brought a triple nomination for three of my concert photos, again competing for a NME Music Photography Award. The weird thing is that that was the last time I had participated: I was just busy shooting photos.

My father got into K-1 and MMA photography. After a while he quit photography, which made Nicepictures a one-man operation. Bit by bit I built Nicepictures into a website of my own, because the name had some ring to it for quite a bit of people at the time. In 2019, I registered Wouter Loeve Fotografie as a Business, with Nicepictures Fotografie as a second name.

So, yes, you could call me a professional, or a freelance photografher. However, it is not all I do: I study Artificial Intelligence at the Radboud University in Nijmegen and I play the bass guitar in a band in my spare time.
