Sandra-Lee Layden

I’m a Toronto-based photographer whose fiery passion for music shows up in every frame I shoot. I was raised in small-town Newfoundland, and after falling in love with sixties rock photography, that passion carried me through eight years on the MuchMusic digital team and eventually onto the road, touring the world with award-winning artists.

For nearly two decades, I’ve been chasing the pulse of musicians - coast to coast - capturing both the chaos of live performances and the quieter, unguarded moments behind the scenes. My work is rooted in authenticity and connection, helping artists see their world reflected back to them honestly, whether they’re playing stadiums, tiny clubs, or anything in between.

Alongside my photography work, I co-run 745 Music Inc., a Canadian multi-service company focused on artist strategy and development, with Jay Emmons. I also work as a social media manager for major Canadian bands and festivals, and lead the media team for the Churchill Park Music Festival. In 2026, I was honoured to be nominated for an East Coast Music Award for Best Visual Artist.

My approach is built on trust and presence - capturing artists as they are, in moments that feel lived-in rather than staged.
